Autistic Girl Expresses Profound Intelligence

If you could could only view one resource on this page we please watch this video below entitled Autistic Girl Expresses Profound Intelligence. If you cannot watch it from our page try www.snotr.com/video/4667

This video called Autistic Girl Expresses Profound Intelligence is inspiring. It seems that a lot of the time people with severe disabilities that are associated with the brain are regarded as unintelligent. This video shows how a girl overcomes that and proves that although she can not talk she can communicate in unbelievable ways. This also makes us wonder if we can change our intelligence or if we are born with it. This video made us lean more towards the idea that intelligence is unchangeable and that our brains have a maximum and minimum capacity.
We rate this video a 4/5 stars for inspiration and opening our minds about autism, intelligence and their interrelatedness.

3D MRI of the Human Brain

This is a cool video. It reminds us of a kaleidoscope! We chose it merely for aesthetic pleasure. We give it a 5/5 stars for creativity and a new way to see the brain that we have not experienced but a 1/5 stars for content.

Parrot Intelligence

This video on parrot intelligence from Animal Planet attempts to prove that parrots are sensitive, intelligent, thinking, feeling creatures. It raises the question of whether intelligence can be learned or if we have a set span of intelligence? Although parrots show different levels of understanding is that because some have been worked with more than others or do they have a broader intelligence spectrum? We found it fun and informative. We would rate this video 3.5/5 stars for entertainment and seeing ways that the human and animal brain may be connected.

Students Belief in Developed Intelligence

This article on the Science Daily website talks about a research project conducted in which they relate test scores to the students beliefs on fixed and changeable intelligence. We will let you read it to discover the results. We give this article a 3/5 stars. Although it brought a new perspective of thinking the study was done with a small group in the same area so we not sure how true it would be across the nation. But it does show us the importance of personal beliefs and how that can impact our education.

Intelligence and the Brain

These two articles on the Science Daily website looks dives into the question of: What is intelligence and how can we measure it? The team of researchers found that general intelligence does not reside in a single structure, but rather is spread across regions of the brain. The second link is an older study done in 2007. It has good information as well, suggesting that intelligence can be inherited. We give these articles a 4/5 stars. They do not go into much depth but are a good brief overview of this idea.

Ha ha! We came across this on youtube when looking for videos on intelligence. Although it is not entirely relevant we thought that it was too funny not to share with you all. What is Intelligence?

This website discusses the difficulty of trying to define intelligence. Starting from the opinion of some philosophers and starting to narrow in on a more scientific approach to try and defining intelligence. It gives a brief detail of the first theory on intelligence by Charles Spearman in 1907 and then transitions into the newer theories of Howard Gardner's Multiple Intelligences and it briefly touches on Robert Sternberg Triarchic Theory of Intelligence. Lastly it talks about Daniel Goleman's Emotional Intelligence theory. This website includes and interview with Gardner and Goleman (each individual interviews) as they discuss their theory. We give this website a 4/5 stars. It has a lot of information on intelligence, but a lot of that information is on multiple and emotional intelligence theory, not on intelligence in and of itself.
What is Intelligence?

We found this video on youtube. Another study was done to test the impacts of believing your intelligence is fixed or can be changed. This particular study showed students who believe they can improve their intelligence performed better in school. We give this video a 3/5 stars. We think the information is good, but the sound is out of sync with the video, which can make it hard to watch.
