My name is Emma McConnell. I was born and raised in Medford, Oregon. The Rogue Valley will always feel like home and is filled with childhood.. I have very supportive parents, a fraternal twin sister, Annie, and an older brother, Logan. My family is very close and will always be there for me.

After high school, I moved to Eugene, Oregon and received my BS in Sociology from the University of Oregon in March 2009. After graduating, I decided to move back to the Rogue Valley to pursue my goals of becoming an elementary school teacher. I always entertained the idea of teaching as a career and then discovered my calling for it during my freshman year at U of O.

I enjoy arts and crafts with friends. I could spend way too much time and money at the craft store. I like painting and jewelery making. I enjoy being outdoors. I love hiking, rafting, swimming, and camping. Whenever I can I also enjoy reading. Getting lost in a book is great when I can the find the time. My favorite author is Wally Lamb. I also love to travel. I have traveled to Europe twice for short visits, but I want to see the world!

Upon graduating from the MAT program, I plan to look for a teaching job in the greater Portland area. I have always wanted to live in a bigger city and working as a teacher will be a great opportunity. I am excited to make a difference in children's lives as my elementary teachers did for me. I plan to take advantage of my summer breaks to travel.
